The Association

Greek Young Matrons' Association

Our History

The Greek Young Matrons’ Association was founded in 1951 by a group of women who had the common goal and objective of raising funds for the needy and for children and is now one of the largest fund raising community charities in New South Wales.

The Association’s Committee members dedicate their time and efforts on a voluntary basis and host such functions as dinners, lunches, fashion parades and the Annual Debutante Ball. No commissions are paid or received.

The Association’s main commitments are to aid and contribute to hospitals and institutions caring for children. This service to the community could not be achieved without the generosity of our many sponsors.

The Association has recently established the GYMA Foundation which is a registered company under the Corporations Act 2001 and holds a charitable fundraising authority under section 16 of the Charitable Fundraising Act 1991. The Foundation is endorsed as a deductible gift recipient according to the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 and has DGR1 status

The GYMA Foundation under the umbrella of the Greek Young Matrons’ Association is now dedicating its main fundraising efforts to enable us to make significant contributions to Clinical Research to the Sydney Children’s Hospital and care of Paediatric and Children’s Brain Cancer.

Our success and the ability to make these significant contributions is only possible through the generous support of its members, donors and sponsors.
